Lt. Governor David Dewhurst Announces Staff Changes
AUSTINóLt. Gov. David Dewhurst announced the reorganization of senior staff in his Capitol office today.
Lt. Governor Dewhurst appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Johnson to replace Bruce Gibson as Chief of Staff as of December 1st. "Rob's judgment on solving issues critical to improving the lives of all Texans has been invaluable to me during my first term as Lieutenant Governor. By expanding his role in my office, I expect to achieve even more legislative success over the next four years," Dewhurst said. Johnson began working with Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst in 2001. He has been Executive Assistant and Deputy Chief of Staff to the Lieutenant Governor Since 2003.
Chief of Staff Bruce Gibson has chosen to pursue outside business opportunities with family and other interests. "Bruce has been, and remains one of my closest personal friends and advisors. I can't overstate his contribution to my success and the Senate's success over the past four years," Dewhurst said. "I will continue to rely on Bruce's extraordinary policy and political skills as he assists me on certain organizational matters, including my inauguration," Dewhurst said. Gibson, a former state representative, has served as the Lieutenant Governor's Chief of Staff since Dewhurst took office in 2003.
