AUSTIN—Today, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst issued select Interim Charges to the State Affairs, Jurisprudence and Open Government committees.

"Laws should not only make our lives and communities better — they should also reflect our values," said Lt. Governor Dewhurst. "From studying the potential negative repercussions of Obamacare and Sharia Law to ensuring open access to public records, Senate committees will undertake the important task of reviewing laws and regulations to ensure that Texas' government and courts uphold our values, promote transparency and continue to serve the people of Texas."
