Lt. Governor Patrick Announces Senate Member Appointments



 

AUSTIN – Today, Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced the appointment of two Senate members to the Texas Judicial Council and one to the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth and Families.

Sen. Royce West has been appointed to the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth, and Families. The commission develops, implements, and coordinates policy initiatives designed to improve courts and court practices for children, youth, and families in the child protection system. The commission also develops and administers a grant program to improve safety and permanency outcomes, enhance due process, and increase the timeliness of resolution in child protection cases.

Sen. Judith Zaffirini and Sen. Brandon Creighton have been appointed to the Texas Judicial Council. The purpose of the Texas Judicial Council is to study and report on the organization, rules, procedures and practices of the state’s judicial system, the work accomplished, and methods for improvement.

“I am proud to appoint these members to the Texas Judicial Council and the Supreme Court of Texas Permanent Judicial Commission for Children, Youth and Families,” said Patrick. “Their hard work during the last legislative session is a true testament to the character and passion for the judiciary. I am confident these senators will continue to serve the state of Texas with honor.”
