Lt. Governor Patrick Requests Delay of Proposed Agriculture Department Fee Increases

AUSTIN – Today, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick announced he has formally requested a delay in the implementation of proposed fee increases by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). A letter was sent to the commissioner earlier this week.

“I have called on Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller to put the brakes on these proposed fees increases. The Senators and I have more questions than answers, ” said Patrick.

“We need to better understand how these additional increases, for example, will impact Texas farmers and ranchers. We also want to know how it will help improve the Department of Agriculture’s ability to better serve Texans.”

Previously, the Agriculture department announced plans to increase fees estimated to generate an expected $14 million in additional revenues.
