Lt. Governor Patrick Announces Joint Interim Committee Appointments



 

AUSTIN –  Today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointment of five senators to the Joint Interim Committee to Study the Issue of Advertising Public Notices and five senators to the Joint Interim Committee to Study the Development of a Cruise Industry.

The Joint Interim Committee to Study the Issue of Advertising Public Notices will examine issues related to the posting and advertising to the general public of legally required notices.

The appointed Senate members to the Joint Interim Committee on Advertising Public Notices are as follows:

Konni Burton – Chair
Kirk Watson – Vice Chair
Kelly Hancock
Charles Perry
Jose Rodriguez

“I know Senate Chair Burton will do a great job, leading the committee to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and transparency in the way public notices are posted,” said Patrick.

The Joint Interim Committee to Study the Development of a Cruise Industry will study the possibility of developing a cruise industry on the Texas coast between Calhoun and Cameron Counties, including its potential economic impact and options to attract the cruise industry to South Texas.

The appointed Senate members to the Joint Interim Committee to Study the Development of a Cruise Industry are as follows:

Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa – Vice Chair
Joan Huffman
Eduardo “Eddie” Lucio, Jr.
Larry Taylor

“With three major deep-water ports along the Texas gulf coast and the economic vitality of South Texas, the further development of the cruise industry will only add to Texas’ robust tourism and thriving economy. I’m looking forward to the recommendations Senate Chair Kolkhorst and committee will provide,” concluded Patrick.
