AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued this statement today following Governor Greg Abbott signing legislation that will block discriminatory trade practices against Israel:
“For many years Israel has been a critical ally and a key trade partner for the State of Texas. That’s why I made ending discriminatory trade practices against Israel a top legislative priority. Today, we made a firm statement that we stand by our friend in the Middle East just as we did in 2013 when I worked to pass Iran divestiture legislation.
“This legislation codifies our commitment to protect Texas trade and oppose discrimination against entities and individuals on the basis of their national origin, ethnicity, or religion.”
