Lt. Governor Dan Patrick: Statement on Hailstorm Lawsuit Reform

30th Legislative Priority Passes the Texas Senate

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today following the passage of the Hailstorm Lawsuit Reform bill. House Bill 1774, the companion to Lt. Gov. Patrick’s Senate Priority, SB 10, is now on its way to Gov. Abbott’s desk.

“The passage of Hailstorm Lawsuit Reform marks the final passage of my thirty legislative priorities in the Texas Senate. This legislation will rein in the hailstorm lawsuit abuse that is damaging local economies around our state and help put a stop to rapidly increasing premiums and deductibles.

“At the beginning of the 2017 Legislative Session, I announced my top 30 legislative priorities that would uphold the conservative principles that are the foundation of the way we govern in Texas — including life, liberty and lean and efficient government.

“I thank Sen. Kelly Hancock for his leadership on this important issue and I thank all the senators for making us 30 for 30 in passing these priority bills.”
