Lt. Governor Dan Patrick Announces the Appointment to the Port Authority Advisory Committee



 

AUSTIN – Today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the appointment of Michael J. Plank, of Houston, to the Port Authority Advisory Committee. Upon making the appointment Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said:

“Texas ports serve as gateways to the state economy, representing approximately 23% of the total State GDP and creating nearly 1.6 million jobs for Texans. I know Michael Plank will be an asset in ensuring that our ports and therefore our state maintains a strong economy.”

Michael is the Chairman & CEO of The Plank Companies, Inc., a diversified holding company consisting of numerous operating companies and investments. He currently serves on the board of the Greater Houston Partnership, YMCA of Greater Houston, and is on the President’s Leadership Council at Methodist Hospital. He is a 1983 Honors Graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

The Port Authority Advisory Committee works with port industry representatives and the Texas Department of Transportation to provide advice and recommendations to the Texas Transportation Commission on matters related to Texas’ ports.
