Lt. Governor Patrick Applauds 5th Circuit Court Affirmation of Texas Voter ID Law

AUSTIN – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today in response to a ruling by a three judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit on Senate Bill 5, the Texas Voter ID Bill:

“Senate Bill 5, the Texas Voter ID law, was one of my highest priorities in the last legislative session and one of the first bills the Senate passed last year. We were right to take a strong stand on this important issue. Today’s ruling by the 5th Circuit confirms this common sense law and safeguards the integrity of our elections. It will also enhance public trust in our democratic process going forward.”
